June 13, 2008 writers meeting - 2009 Show

Our hosts were a seemingly calm and together Clingan Couple, in spite of Marge having left the hospital at 5 p.m. that day after a week's stay, stopping on her way home to pick up dinner for everyone and while in the car, knitting three blankets for the poor while driving. It is my understanding that as soon as the gang left, and after she washed the dishes, made up some meals to freeze for Steve, ironed the tea towels, and changed the beds, she went right back in the hospital and there she will remain until we need her to do something immense for the July 4^th Parade. As usual, Steve was a genial host. We thank them for their generosity and dedication. And their chicken.

There was a very large crowd out on the Clingan patio on this gorgeous evening. Skit presenters were Steve Clingan, Paddy, Jo, Fred, Marc N., John Hoff, his friend Harriet, Julie Fletcher, Gail, Mary, Julie Newbie, and Dean. In attendance were, of course, our producers, Dan and Jeff. Also Sheri, Robin (who will be helping everyone who needs help in the vocal music department), Don Parker, Larry (who was there with a light when it got dark), Judy, Colin, Gene, Shirl, Bridget, Dave, Janice and Denise. Hope I included everyone.

Near the end of the presentations a large contingent of mosquitoes joined the group and when a platoon of them tried to carry Laura off, and since we had just finished seeing all the skits anyway, we rescued her and scurried inside. There the feasting continued in earnest - and what a feast it was - not only Clingan generated but contributions from many of the participants. Your Follies Foibles Scribe went home early, leaving the party in full swing. These meeting are fun. Write something and come, or just come. Maybe you'll be the one that has a completely unexpected brain-storm at a meeting.

Our next meeting will be on July 25^th, at Gail and Jeff's house. More information is forthcoming. Subsequent meetings August 8 and September 12.
